About the role
You will plan and prepare quality nutritious, well-balanced meals for children at the long day care service in a manner consistent with their preferences, cultural differences and dietary requirements and in accordance with food safety guidelines and Centre procedures. The major accountabilities of the role are the menu planning, food purchasing within budget parameters, preparation and delivery of meals and adhere to food safety practices and guidelines outlined in service nutritional policies
This is a part-time temporary role (0.4EFT) until 22 December 2026, based at Bayswater Hub. This is a Band 3 classified role. Remuneration will be $71,147.02 to 75,750.73 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time/fixed term) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will deliver during this period:
- Menu and food preparation
- Food Safety, Compliance and Record keeping
What you will bring to this role • Knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training of at least 12 months commensurate with the requirements of work in this Band.
• Certificate in Food Handling – HLTFSE001, HLTFSE007, HLTFSE005 • Community and Health Food Safety Supervisor (desirable) • Experience in the area of food preparation and nutrition for large groups.
• Experience in preparing dietary requirement meals (e.g. preparation of meals for consumption by a child with allergies) • Experience in monitoring a Food safety program (FSP),
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) in cooking for large groups of children from a commercial kitchen • Proficient communication skills, verbal and written.
