About the Role
With a strong pipeline of projects across the energy, resources and industrial sectors, GPA Engineering is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Drafter to join our Adelaide team.
Based in our Adelaide Head Office, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering projects across oil & gas, mining, materials handling, water and power. This role is suited to someone with 3-10 years' experience who enjoys variety, technical challenges and developing high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models.
Working closely with engineers and designers, you'll contribute to projects from concept through to detailed design, gaining exposure to a broad range of clients and industries. You'll have the opportunity to further develop your drafting and modelling skills while taking increasing ownership of design documentation and model coordination.
Key Duties:
- Prepare, revise and maintain civil and structural engineering drawings and 3D models across a range of projects.
- Produce high-quality 2D deliverables including general arrangements, plans, elevations, sections and construction details.
- Develop and maintain 3D models to support coordinated multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Work closely with engineers and designers to translate engineering concepts and calculations into clear and practical design documentation.
- Apply relevant Australian Standards, client specifications, project requirements and GPA drafting standards.
- Participate in drawing and model reviews and incorporate design changes and review comments.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to identify and resolve design interfaces and clashes.
- Manage assigned drafting activities to meet project schedules and agreed deliverables.
- Ensure drawings, models and associated documentation comply with GPA quality assurance requirements
Desired Skills and Experience
We are looking for a collaborative and technically capable Civil/Structural Drafter with strong attention to detail and a practical approach to engineering documentation.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Qualifications: An Associate Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering (Design Drafting), Advanced Diploma or equivalent recognised drafting/design qualification, either completed or currently being undertaken.
- Experience: Approximately 3–10 years of relevant civil and/or structural drafting and design experience earthworks.
- Industry Experience: Experience in heavy industry sectors such as oil & gas, mining, materials handling, water or power will be highly regarded.
- 2D Drafting: Solid capability in producing engineering drawings including general arrangements, plans, elevations, sections and construction details.
- 3D Modelling: Experience developing and working with 3D models as part of coordinated engineering project delivery.
- Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Experience with Civil 3D, Advance Steel, Revit or other relevant design and modelling software would be advantageous.
- Technical Understanding: Ability to interpret engineering mark-ups, design information, relevant Australian Standards and client specifications.
- Quality: Strong attention to detail and an understanding of engineering drawing standards, document control and QA processes.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.
A requirement for this role is to complete a satisfactory pre-employment medical check and Australian police clearance.
