This influential role combines clinical expertise with strategic leadership, offering the opportunity to shape innovative service models, support multidisciplinary teams, and improve mental health outcomes for rural and remote communities across North West Queensland.
About The Role
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Psychiatrist to provide clinical and strategic leadership across North West Hospital and Health Service's Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Services.
Working closely with the Service Director, you will play a key role in driving service development, strengthening clinical governance, and delivering high-quality, person-centred care to communities across the region.
Working with us
Competitive remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value up to $645,706 comprising:
- Base salary ranges between $223,136 and $282,912 p.a. (L18 – L27).
- Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.
- 5 weeks annual recreational leave accumulation with 17.5% loading when taken.
- Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%.
- Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 50% base annual salary.
- Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary.
- Motor vehicle allowance.
- Career development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a.
- Inaccessibility allowance.
- Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.

Requirements
- Current Specialist Psychiatry registration with or/eligible for Specialist Psychiatry registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and registrable as a specialist with the Medical Board of Queensland.
- Able to prescribe Opioid Substitution Therapy (OSTP)
- Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- A period of probation may apply.
