About the role:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (Paediatrics) provides expert clinical leadership and specialist nursing support within the Children’s Ward and Paediatric & Neonatal Specialist Clinics at Western Health. The role leads evidence-based, family-centred care, supports complex paediatric presentations, and drives excellence in clinical practice, education, quality improvement, and service development. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the Clinical Nurse Consultant promotes safe, high-quality care and contributes to workforce development, policy implementation, and service planning to optimise outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Key responsibilities:

- Act as a role model and expert clinician in the clinical paediatric settings.
- Provide specialist paediatric nursing consultation to support clinical care within Women’s & Children’s.
- Maintains and fosters relationships with appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead quality or practice improvement initiatives at local level and/or contributes to quality or practice improvement initiatives at program or organisational level.
- Continuously reviews existing practices and policies according to evidence-based practice to minimise adverse, promote positive consumer outcomes and identify areas of improvement in nursing practice.
- Maintains and updates own professional development portfolio to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to learning and best practice.
- Act as a primary resource in relevant area and ensure the provision of high quality, culturally sensitive consumer care in partnership with consumers, their significant others and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.

About you:





- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Experience working in a senior clinical role (CNS or above).
- Have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in area of specialty.
- Experience working in a paediatric Intensive Care or Emergency Department.
