About the Role An exciting opportunity awaits! To join our Community and Cultural Services team as a Community Development Officer for a maximum term part-time position till January 2028. This role will have a particular focus on Social Cohesion, but may have the opportunity to engage in projects from other portfolio areas.

- Access and Inclusion; and
- Community Events.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled community development professional with experience delivering programs and events, and strong communication and project management skills. They work well independently and in teams and have a commitment to the City’s values of being Supportive, United, Bold, and Impactful.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

- Plan, deliver, and evaluate community development programs, projects, and initiatives aligned with identified community needs
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies, education campaigns, and events
- Collect, analyse, and report on community feedback and program outcomes to inform continuous improvement
- Act as a key point of contact for community enquiries, providing high-quality information and support
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, stakeholders, contractors, and partner organisations
- Facilitate working groups, meetings, and community events, including coordination of volunteers and contractors
- Contribute to grant applications, project plans, budgets, reports, and policy development
- Monitor community development trends and apply best practice to program design and delivery
- Support contract and partnership management to ensure effective and compliant service delivery




- Work collaboratively across the organisation and represent the City on relevant external committees and forums
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and administrative requirements for all programs and projects
- Promote community programs and initiatives through marketing and communication activities
- Provide occasional support across other community development functions as required
- Uphold organisational values and contribute to a positive, community-focused workplace culture
- Any other duties as required.

Essential Requirements

- Appropriate qualifications in community development or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge and experience in coordinating community development programs, initiatives and events.
- Well-developed project management and organisational skills.
- Highly developed verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written communication and report writing skills.
- Well-developed facilitation and consultation skills, with experience engaging government agencies, industry groups, community organisations and the community, including community members from diverse or marginalise backgrounds.
- Experience in supervising or working with volunteers.
- Working with Children Clearance (current).
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Salary Package In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025, this position is classified as a Level 5. The salary range is $89,477.90 to $99,567.00 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
