Binarri-binyja yarrawoo (BBY) is seeking a Community Engagement Worker to support community engagement activities across the East Kimberley.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an Aboriginal-led organisation and play a hands-on role in supporting Aboriginal communities, organisations, Elders and leaders to have their voices heard and reflected in regional priorities and community-led initiatives.

About the Role

As a Community Engagement Worker, you will work closely with BBY's Community Engagement Coordinator and Engagement & Partnerships Manager to support community engagement, consultations, events, workshops and stakeholder activities across the East Kimberley. You will help create meaningful connections between BBY, Aboriginal communities and member organisations while supporting community-led solutions and local priorities.

Key aspects of the role include:

✅ Building positive relationships with Aboriginal community members, Elders, leaders and stakeholders

✅ Supporting community engagement and consultation activities across the East Kimberley

✅ Gathering community feedback and helping ensure local priorities are heard

✅ Supporting community-led activities and initiatives

✅ Assisting with workshops, meetings, forums and community events

✅ Coordinating practical arrangements such as venues, catering, travel and registrations





✅ Maintaining records, stakeholder information and engagement reports

✅ Working collaboratively with BBY staff and member organisations

✅ Supporting positive communication between BBY and communities

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

- Has a genuine passion for supporting Aboriginal communities
- Builds respectful and positive relationships with a wide range of people
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills
- Enjoys community engagement and working as part of a team
- Is organised, reliable and willing to learn
- Has a positive attitude and commitment to community-led change
- Is willing to travel throughout the East Kimberley, including remote communities

Experience working, volunteering or participating in community activities will be highly regarded, particularly experience working with Aboriginal communities or organisations. However, we also welcome applications from people with strong community connections, cultural knowledge and a willingness to learn.

Essential Requirements

- Respect for Aboriginal culture and communities.
- Basic computer skills or willingness to learn

- Good organisational skills

- Current Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain one)
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Willingness to travel by vehicle and small aircraft to remote communities when required
