Reporting to the Directors, the Construction Project Manager will plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate the construction of Steel Stone’s building projects, from ECI-phase design coordination and pre-construction through to handover. You will take full ownership of multiple concurrent precast residential and modular projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards, while working closely with clients, architects, engineers, certifiers, subcontractors and our site supervisors and maintaining strong client relationships.

Task &
responsibilities
- Assess project requirements, scope and feasibility, and develop and implement project management plans, programmes, policies and procedures
- Lead ECI-phase design coordination with clients, architects and structural engineers, reviewing design quality and constructability and translating architectural concepts into buildable precast and modular specifications
- Coordinate planning, building permit and subdivision approvals with councils, certifiers and other authorities, and ensure designs and construction comply with the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards and WA legislation
- Prepare, review and manage project budgets, cost estimates and cash flow, and ensure daily costing is accurate, timely and complete
- Negotiate and administer contracts, tenders and subcontract agreements, and procure materials, precast suppliers, plant and subcontractors in a timely manner
- Direct and coordinate all construction activities to comply with the project programme, and manage Site Supervisors, subcontractors and associated site resources to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime
- Monitor and manage project timelines, costs, quality and risks, and report regularly on progress to the Directors and clients
- Act as the primary client-side representative, liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and goals are met
- Coordinate with the Site Supervisor to ensure adequate plant and labour resources are available for each project
- Ensure all construction activities are completed in a safe manner, and in compliance with WHS legislation and legislative requirements
- Ensure all site personnel work in accordance with the Project Management Plan, company operating procedures and Safe Work Method Statements, including toolbox meetings and pre-start checklists
- Maintain project risk registers and be proactive in improving the company’s management system
Qualification &
experience
- Bachelor degree (or higher) in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline, and/or extensive experience managing building projects at a senior level
- Substantial demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) as a Construction Project Manager or in a comparable senior building project role,
delivering residential and/or commercial projects from design through to handover
- Ability to read, assess and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings, with proven capability in design quality assessment and design review
- Demonstrated experience in cost evaluation, budgeting, cost control and contract administration
- Proven client-side representation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors
- Strong leadership, communication and personnel management skills, with experience supervising site teams and subcontractors
- Risk management capability and a commitment to workplace health and safety
- Proficiency in architectural CAD/BIM or 3D modelling software and Microsoft Office

This is a newly created position. As our project volume grows, the day-to-day management of design coordination, contracts, costs and site delivery can no longer be absorbed by our Directors, We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to take central responsibility for project delivery. The successful applicant will oversee project logistics, coordinate construction, engineering and architectural requirements, monitor compliance, and manage project costs and variances.
