We are looking for an experienced and reliable Cook/Chef to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen at Captains Flat Hotel.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident working independently, can manage a busy country pub kitchen and takes pride in serving consistent, quality pub food.
Hours The position includes
- Wednesday to Saturday: Lunch and dinner shifts
- Sunday: Lunch shift only
- Monday & Tuesday: Kitchen closed / days off
Key Responsibilities The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
- Preparation, cooking and presentation of meals
- Maintaining consistent food quality and portion control
- Planning and developing the menu, including specials
- Ordering food, ingredients and kitchen supplies
- Monitoring stock levels, stock rotation and minimising wastage
- Kitchen rostering and coordinating kitchen staff
- Ensuring preparation is completed for each service
- Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen
- Ensuring food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements are followed
- Working with management to maintain appropriate food and labour costs
- Assisting with catering and special events when required
What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working as a Cook or Chef
- Is capable of taking responsibility for running a kitchen
- Is organised and able to manage prep, ordering and stock
- Can work efficiently during busy services
- Has valuable communication and time-management skills
- Is reliable and works well as part of a friendly team
- Has a good understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene
- Is comfortable preparing quality, traditional pub-style meals as well as contributing ideas for menus and specials
