As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide range of authentic Indian dishes in a busy commercial kitchen. You will work with strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine, excellent cooking skills and the ability to work efficiently during service.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking a wide range of authentic Indian dishes
- Preparing curries, tandoori dishes, rice, breads, entrees and other Indian specialties
- Following recipes and maintaining consistent taste, quality and presentation
- Preparing ingredients and organising the kitchen for daily service
- Ensuring food is prepared, stored and handled in accordance with food safety requirements
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and kitchen safety
- Monitoring food quality and freshness
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and minimising food wastage
- Working efficiently during busy service periods
- Assisting with menu preparation and development of Indian dishes
About you
- Previous commercial experience as Cook or Chef in Indian cuisine
- Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, ingredients and cooking techniques
- Experience preparing authentic Indian dishes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen
- Strong attention to food quality, hygiene and presentation
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or a Diploma in Hospitality Management/Cookery is required
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required
