We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents The Role A rewarding opportunity has presented itself for a dedicated and driven individual to join our Open space and Buildings operations Unit as a Crew Leader.
In this role you work as part of a team that focusses on maintaining and improving Council's parks, sportsfields, and ovals.
This opportunity will be offered on a permanent full-time basis.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Lead a small team of staff at an operational level
- Undertake 'On the Job' Tool Box Talks prior to the commencement of daily activities.
- Ensure parks, sportsfields, ovals, etc. are prepared, maintained and renovated in accordance with service agreements, rosters and programs.
- Provide recommendations for annual improvement, maintenance and renovation programs and implement as required.
- Inspect sportsfields, ovals, etc. under the position holders control, particularly following periods of excessive rainfall, and provide recommendations as to whether they should be closed or opened.
- Assist the Team leader Parks & Gardens plan and organise day to day activities of their crew members ensuring their team is adequately resourced to undertake their duties.
- Assist the Team Leader Parks & Gardens to provide feedback to sports clubs, park users, etc. and resolve minor maintenance issues.
- Assist the Team Leader Parks & Gardens to provide on the job skills development and training to staff.

You will have:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Greenkeeping, Horticulture, Landscaping or a similar relevant field.
- Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate or equivalent
- Current Class C Drivers Licence.
- Experience in sportsfield preparation and maintenance.
- Experience in leading a small team of staff at an operational level.
- Skills & experience necessary to fulfil the role, responsibilities, duties and competency requirements of the position.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $80,351 (Grade E, Step 1) + AWACA + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience Four-Day Work Week Pilot
This position is part of Council’s Four-Day Work Week Pilot, offering the opportunity to work a 36-hour week over four days with no reduction in salary.
Working hours will be scheduled between 6:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Sunday, subject to operational requirements. The pilot temporarily replaces the standard 38-hour, five-day work week and SDO arrangement for the duration of the pilot.
Participation is subject to Council’s pilot terms and conditions and ongoing review, and the pilot may be amended or discontinued at Council’s discretion.
