### Love Crochet, Knitting and a Good Chat? We’d Love to Hear From You!

Do you love to crochet or knit, and enjoy sharing your skills with others? Are you someone who believes that a cup of tea, a ball of wool and a good conversation can bring people together?

Mt Gravatt Community Centre is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic volunteer to facilitate our Crochet and Knitting Social Group.

This is a relaxed and welcoming group where people come together to work on their projects, share ideas and skills, enjoy a chat and make new friends. We are looking for someone who can help create that warm, inclusive atmosphere and bring their own enthusiasm for crochet and/or knitting to the group.

### What you will do

- Welcome participants and help create a friendly and inclusive setting.
- Facilitate the regular Crochet and Knitting Social Group.
- Share your crochet and/or knitting skills and demonstrate techniques where needed.
- Help participants with projects, patterns and basic techniques.
- Encourage participants to share their own knowledge and skills.
- Enjoy conversations and help create a social atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable.
- Assist with setting up and packing away materials and keeping the group area tidy.
- Organise morning tea requirements

### What we are looking for

You don't need to be a professional knitter or crocheter – just someone who is confident with their craft and enjoys helping others.

Ideally, you will:

- Have good crochet and/or knitting skills.
- Enjoy talking with people and sharing your knowledge.
- Be friendly, patient, approachable and encouraging.
- Be comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and with different skill levels.
- Be reliable and willing to contribute to the group on a regular basis.

- Have previous group facilitation experience, although this is not essential.

### About Mt Gravatt Community Centre

Mt Gravatt Community Centre is a not-for-profit community organisation providing a range of services, activities and social opportunities for people in our local community. Our centre provides social groups, emergency relief and food assistance, information and referral, community activities and events, and opportunities for people to participate and build connections.

### Why volunteer with us?

This is a great opportunity to:

- Share something you love with others.
- Meet new people and become part of a welcoming community.
- Help people develop their skills and confidence.
- Provide a regular social activity for people who may otherwise experience isolation.
- Gain experience in community group facilitation.
- Enjoy the satisfaction of knowing your time and skills are making a difference.

### The difference you can make

Sometimes it's the simple things that make the biggest difference. A friendly welcome, help with a tricky stitch and a conversation over a shared project can give someone a reason to get out, meet others and feel part of their community.

If you love crochet or knitting and would enjoy bringing people together through your craft, we'd love to hear from you!

### How to apply

Please apply through SEEK Volunteer and include a brief introduction about your crochet and/or knitting experience and why you would like to volunteer with our group.

All volunteers are required to complete the centre's volunteer induction and relevant screening requirements before commencing.
