Our client is seeking an experienced Security Projects Manager to manage and deliver Security projects (The Security & Compliance portfolio, IT Infrastructure, information security, networking, firewall projects).
Location: Hybrid, Canberra and Sydney preferred
Initial Contract: till 30 June 2026
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and execute end-to-end delivery of projects within the Security & Compliance program to deliver specified outcomes within timeframes and within budget.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and dependencies, and provide regular updates to senior management through structured reporting.
- Coordinate cross-functional project teams and third-party vendors to deliver technical outcomes
- Plan and manage the workloads of a multidisciplinary team of staff, contractors and consultants.
- Perform project management and governance activities including reporting, budgeting and cost accounting.
- Work with partner vendors and Organizational Technology and Business areas to coordinate tasks, resources, and deliverables.
- Manage vendor performance, ensuring they meet contracted milestones, deliverables, and quality expectations.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues or roadblocks, escalating where required to maintain project momentum and outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to the Organizational project governance framework, including documentation, approvals, and risk management processes.
- Technical Knowledge and Experience in IT Security capability projects
- Positive experience in project budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Worked in Federal Government or State Government IT security or Infrastructure projects.
- Managed the end-to-end delivery of cyber security uplift initiatives, focusing specifically on implementing and maturing the Australian Cyber Security Centre's (ACSC) Essential Eight mitigation strategies.
Essential requirements
- At least 10+ years of experience as a IT Project Manager delivering complex projects across data centres, networking, security areas
- Strong Project Management fundamentals with ability to manage scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholders
- Ability to consistently follow project governance requirements within the organization.
- Experience and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage third party suppliers in ensuring they deliver to the committed outcomes, timeframes and costs
- Ability manages project team members to ensure they deliver to the committed outcomes and timeframes
- Technical Knowledge and Experience in IT Security capability projects
Desirable Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology or related discipline
Project Management certification like PMP, Agile, Scrum
Financial Services Industry Regulatory Frameworks & industry experience
Federal Government Security Frameworks & industry / customer experience
