Ever fixed a kernel panic before your first coffee? Then you might be exactly who we're looking for.
The Opportunity
Five nines. That's roughly 5 minutes of downtime a year, and we'd rather spend those minutes on a coffee run than an outage.
Access4 is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own the backend environments that power our platform. When a problem is gnarly, obscure or buried deep in the kernel, you're the one people call, and you enjoy that. If you like Linux, you're calm when others panic, and you believe good automation is a form of self-care, keep reading.
What You'll Be Doing
- Looking after our backend systems every day and keeping them healthy
- Finding what's fragile and making it resilient, then doing it again
- Being the go-to infrastructure expert for engineering and the wider Access4 team
- Getting stuck into engineering and R&D; work that shapes where the business goes next
- Taking your turn on call for after-hours events, and staying cool when the pager goes off
- Staying steady under pressure so critical systems stay up
- Bringing structure and discipline to both quick fixes and long-term projects
What You'll Bring The essentials:
- A Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field
- Full working rights in Australia (we can't offer sponsorship)
- 5+ years in Linux administration, down to the kernel and module level
- 5+ years managing on-premises environments (real servers, real racks)
- 3+ years with Docker or other containerisation tech
- 3+ years with Ansible or similar automation tools
- 3+ years developing in Python
- 3+ years with virtualisation technologies
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP network stacks and monitoring systems
- Sharp problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to explain what you found clearly, in writing and out loud
Bonus points:
- Other programming languages besides Python
- Database administration experience (MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar)
- VoIP know-how, especially SIP
About Access4 Access4 started in 2016 with a simple idea: give the MSP market one automated platform to sell, provision and invoice unified communications. That platform became SASBOSS®, and it's now the industry benchmark for middleware. It connects best-of-breed vendors with end-to-end partner enablement for service providers.
Our motto is Innovate, Empower and Partner, and we actually work by it. We have honest conversations, we hold high standards, and every part of the business pulls in the same direction. We're also building a more diverse team, so we'd especially love to hear from women in tech and telco.
Why You'll Like It Here
- You'll join a quick-growing UCaaS leader across Australia and NZ, running critical infrastructure at scale
- The systems are yours to own. Partners and customers rely on them every day
- You'll get the autonomy and trust to solve problems your way
- The problems are complex enough to keep you learning
- The culture is supportive and down-to-earth, across multiple regions
- Hybrid working, with a modern office in Richmond
- Team events, EOFY and Christmas parties, and more
- An Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
