An APRA-regulated financial services group is appointing a Director to own its AI architecture. You set the reference architectures and standards across models, agents, APIs, orchestration, integration and security. You make the platform and vendor calls: AI Foundry, agent platforms, model providers, AI SaaS. You define the target state the engineering squads build to across the AI, data and cloud platforms, and you report to the group executive who owns AI and data.

This is a senior architect's seat, not a builder's. You will not write the code. You will read the design, find the flaw, and explain the trade-off to a risk committee in plain English the same afternoon.

Who this suits An Enterprise AI Architect, a Principal or Chief Architect, or a Head or Director of AI Architecture, with production AI platforms behind you rather than pilots. You may be inside a bank, insurer, super fund, telco or retailer today, or at a hyperscaler, an AI product company or a consultancy and ready to own the architecture on the client side.

What you bring, dated on your CV

- AI as your job since early 2024 at the latest, and still your job. Every role since then is AI architecture, AI platform or ML engineering. A long architecture career with AI added this year is a different profile.
- Several years designing on Azure , dated by role: Azure OpenAI, AI Foundry, Databricks on Azure, AKS, Fabric or Synapse. Azure in a skills list under an AWS career is not the same thing.
- Reference architectures and target-state blueprints you authored for an enterprise, and the governance that made squads follow them: design authority, architecture review, standards.
- Platform and vendor assessments you ran : agent platforms, model providers, AI SaaS, RFPs, and the build, buy or partner call you made.
- An executive register. You have taken an architecture decision to an executive committee or board and won the argument.
