Oceania University of Medicine (OUM) is seeking an experienced and accomplished medical educator to join our senior academic leadership team as Director, Clinical Education and Faculty.

This is a significant leadership opportunity for an experienced clinician and medical educator to shape the quality and direction of clinical education at OUM, lead and develop Clinical Faculty, strengthen clinical partnerships, and drive innovation and continuous improvement across our clinical education programs.

Working collaboratively with OUM’s senior leadership, Regional Deans, Clinical Faculty and clinical partners, you will provide strategic and academic leadership to ensure our clinical education programs deliver high-quality learning experiences, meet relevant accreditation and professional standards, and prepare students for contemporary medical practice.

About the RoleAs Director, Clinical Education and Faculty, you will provide strategic, academic and operational leadership across OUM’s clinical education activities and Clinical Faculty.

You will oversee the quality and continuous development of clinical education, provide leadership and support to Clinical Faculty, strengthen clinical partnerships, and ensure OUM’s clinical programs remain aligned with the University’s strategic objectives, academic priorities, accreditation requirements and contemporary medical education practice.

This is a broad and influential role requiring a leader who can combine academic and clinical credibility with strong people leadership, strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and a commitment to educational excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Education Leadership

- Provide strategic leadership for OUM’s clinical education programs and contribute to the University’s broader academic direction.
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of clinical education strategies.
- Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship and support to Clinical Faculty.
- Lead Performance Planning and Review activities for Clinical Faculty, including performance expectations, feedback and professional development.
- Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Curriculum and Assessment

- Lead the ongoing review and evaluation of OUM’s clinical curriculum.
- Oversee the development, delivery and continuous improvement of clinical education curricula.
- Ensure learning outcomes align with OUM’s Intended Learning Outcomes,



accreditation requirements and relevant medical licensure requirements.
- In collaboration with Core Subject Specialists, oversee the development and review of student assessments to ensure validity, reliability and alignment with educational objectives and learning outcomes.
- Use assessment data, student outcomes and feedback to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

Faculty Leadership and Development

- Lead, mentor and support Clinical Faculty to strengthen teaching, leadership and academic capability.
- Promote high-quality and consistent clinical teaching and supervision across OUM’s clinical education activities.
- Foster professional development, scholarship, research and evidence-based practice within Clinical Faculty.
- Promote innovative approaches to clinical teaching and learning.
- Support a positive, inclusive and accountable academic culture.

Clinical Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with healthcare providers, clinical sites and external stakeholders.
- In collaboration with the COO and Regional Deans, facilitate and strengthen partnerships with hospitals, clinics and other healthcare organisations to expand and enhance clinical placement opportunities.
- Maintain effective relationships with clinical partners to support the quality and ongoing development of OUM’s clinical education programs.
- Build relationships with government agencies, professional bodies and other relevant stakeholders to advance OUM’s strategic objectives.
- Represent OUM at professional forums, conferences and other external events.

Quality, Accreditation and Governance
- Provide leadership and actively contribute to accreditation processes relating to clinical education.
- Ensure ongoing alignment with relevant accreditation, academic and professional standards.
- Lead the evaluation and review of clinical education programs and monitor program performance and outcomes.
- Use relevant data and feedback to drive continuous quality improvement.
- Contribute to academic and institutional governance through participation in relevant University committees.
- Provide advice and support to University boards and committees on matters relating to clinical education and Clinical Faculty.

Risk, Professional Standards and Student Success
- In consultation with relevant OUM leads, including HSE, Student Operations and other functional areas, identify and monitor risks associated with clinical education.
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of appropriate risk mitigation strategies relating to clinical placements, student and patient safety, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
- Promote and model high standards of professional, ethical and respectful conduct.
- Support culturally safe, diverse and inclusive clinical learning environments.
- Provide leadership and oversight of strategies supporting student academic progress, retention, success and well-being within clinical education.
- Support Clinical Faculty in identifying and appropriately responding to student academic progress and performance concerns.





About YouYou will be an experienced medical educator and senior leader with the clinical credibility, academic expertise and leadership capability to influence clinical education across a diverse and evolving medical program. You will be collaborative, strategic and outcomes-focused, with a genuine commitment to developing faculty and providing students with high-quality clinical learning experiences.

Essential CriteriaTo be successful in this role, you will possess:

- A recognised medical qualification (MD, MBBS or equivalent).
- Extensive senior-level experience in clinical education and faculty management.
- Demonstrated experience leading the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical education programs.
- Strong senior-level leadership and people management capability, including faculty supervision, performance management, mentoring and professional development.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, assessment and continuous quality improvement.
- Experience working within medical education accreditation frameworks, academic governance, quality assurance and clinical education risk management.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching, scholarship and research within clinical or medical education.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with clinical partners, healthcare organisations and other key stakeholders.
- Strong communication, collaboration, decision-making and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in diverse and international environments.
- A strong commitment to cultural safety, inclusive practice, professional standards and excellence in medical education.

Desirable

- Postgraduate qualifications in medical education, clinical education, higher education or a related field.
- A demonstrated record of scholarly contribution to medical or clinical education.
- Experience implementing innovative and evidence-based approaches to clinical teaching and learning.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or international medical education environments.
- Senior academic leadership experience within a medical school, university or comparable medical education environment.
