About this opportunity

We are looking for two experienced leaders in regulation to join the NDIS Commission as Directors Compliance and Enforcement.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced regulator and values-driven leader to contribute to the work of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, Australia's independent regulator of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The NDIS Commission plays a critical role in ensuring NDIS services and supports are safe, high quality and delivered consistently across Australia, while protecting and promoting the rights of people with disability.

Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, Compliance and Enforcement, this role will lead geographically dispersed teams of regulatory officers, working in hybrid work arrangements, using the full range of compliance and enforcement powers under the NDIS Act and Regulatory Powers Act to address provider and worker non-compliance and uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of, people with disability receiving supports and services.

- Lead, manage and mentor a team of regulatory officers, and other staff
- Plan, lead, and conduct high quality end-to-end compliance monitoring and investigations into disability service providers / workers and recommend appropriate regulatory action in a timely manner
- Lead teams undertaking inspections and use powers in a field-context in a protected, professional manner that supports both regulatory staff and vulnerable, complex people including NDIS participants
- Coordinate the execution of the array of compliance, monitoring, investigation and enforcement tasks within specified timeframes to a high quality




- Collaborate and actively participate in the development and dissemination of policies, guidelines, resources, and procedures for the conduct of the team’s activities and continuous improvement undertakings
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including influencing to ensure business outcomes are achieved
- Work collaboratively with other agencies or authorities and where appropriate refer matters to them under the relevant jurisdictional law
- Execute delegations with due consideration for good administrative decision making, legislative obligations, strategic directions, goals, objectives and Commission policies.

To be considered in this role, candidates will need to:

- Be an Australian Citizen, and
- Have a favourable National Police Check, and
- Have or be willing to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting security clearance. Should business need arise, be willing to obtain and maintain a Baseline / Negative Vetting Level 1/ NV 2 security clearance, and
- Complete a NDIS Commission external influences and associations declaration form.

Mandatory role requirements

Qualifications

Position holders are required to have qualifications in one of the following:

- Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Certificate IV in Government (Investigations), a degree in the field of law, policing, criminology, intelligence or other relevant degree, or
- Significant relevant experience that would meet the threshold for recognition of prior learning towards a relevant qualification and a willingness to obtain that qualification.

Travel

Ability to undertake regular travel, sometimes at short notice, and to conduct site visits.
