About Troubridge
Troubridge Capital is an independent corporate advisory and principal investment firm working with privately held businesses across Australia and Recent Zealand, typically with $2–10m in EBITDA. We help founders and owners sell, buy and recapitalise their businesses, and we invest our own capital to build a long-term portfolio of well-run companies.
Our clients are usually selling the most valuable thing they'll ever own, often only once. How we're known to them, and to the accountants, lawyers and advisers they trust, matters as much as how we run a deal.
The role
We're hiring a senior writer and communicator to own how Troubridge is understood in the market. You'll be the firm's editorial voice, turning deal experience, market data and conversations with business owners into a clear, consistent point of view that gives founders a reason to talk to us first.
This isn't a marketing coordinator or agency account role. It's a hands-on senior position in a small, ambitious firm. You'll set the direction, do much of the writing yourself, and work closely with our leadership, deal and portfolio teams. You'll be measured by the conversations your work creates, not the impressions it earns.
What you'll do
Editorial and thought leadership
- Own the content strategy and editorial calendar across our website, LinkedIn, email and the press
- Write insight pieces, market notes and founder guides on exit readiness, valuation, succession, and the tax and regulatory changes that affect when and how owners sell
- Develop the voices of our key stakeholders on LinkedIn and in bylined articles
- Produce case studies and transaction announcements with care for client confidentiality
- Run and grow our newsletter for business owners, advisers and intermediaries
Media and reputation
- Build relationships with business and financial journalists across Australia and New Zealand
- Secure attributable quotes and media hits for our key stakeholders
- Prepare spokespeople for interviews and manage reputational questions as they arise
New business
- Create campaign material for targeted outreach to business owners, including letters, printed collateral, email sequences and landing pages
- Build resources that make it easy for accountants, lawyers and wealth advisers to introduce Troubridge
- Keep our website, credentials and pitch materials sharp and current
- Plan content for roundtables, webinars and events
Deals and portfolio
- Help shape the narrative in teasers and information memoranda, turning financial detail into a compelling and accurate story for buyers
- Support our portfolio companies at the moments that matter: acquisitions, ownership changes, leadership transitions and brand refreshes
Governance
- Keep all public communications within our obligations as a Corporate Authorised Representative, including compliance pre-approval, privacy and spam requirements
- Track what content actually drives conversations, and report on what to do more and less of
What success looks like in year one
- A recognisable Troubridge point of view on exits and mid-market M&A;, published consistently
- Content that clearly feeds new business, through inbound enquiries, newsletter engagement and referral partners sharing our material
- A steady flow of attributable quotes and media hits from our key stakeholders
- A smooth, compliant publishing process that gets good work to market quickly
About you
- [8]+ years in business or financial journalism, content leadership at a professional services or advisory firm, or senior corporate communications
- A portfolio of published commercial writing that you wrote yourself
- Able to read financial statements or an information memorandum and find the story a business owner will care about
- A clear, precise writer with a low tolerance for jargon
- Experience building and running a content program end to end, without a team underneath you
- Self-directed and effective working remotely, with the judgement to know when a conversation beats a message
- Credible in a room with a founder, a journalist or a senior adviser
- Sound judgement with confidential information and regulated communications
Nice to have
- Exposure to M&A;, private equity, corporate advisory or private business audiences
- Knowledge of the New Zealand business and media landscape
- Confidence with design and email tools (Adobe, Figma or Canva, HubSpot or similar)
- Fluency with AI tools used to increase output without flattening voice or accuracy
Every win is shared At Troubridge, we succeed together. Every deal we complete carries a share of the upside for the whole team, not just the people who closed it. The stories you tell, the relationships you build and the conversations you start help bring in the deals we win, and you'll share in the result of every one of them through carry.
What we offer
- $300k+ on-target earnings: circa $150k base + super, plus carry on every deal
- Genuine ownership of a function, with a direct line to leadership
- Close exposure to live transactions and the businesses we own
- Work from anywhere in Australia, fully remote, with occasional travel to meet clients, portfolio companies and the team
