Details: Are you looking for a unique opportunity to broaden your understanding of government operations and build robust relationships across the ACT Public Service?

The Directorate Liaison

Officer (DLO) role is a critically important position that serves as the key link between the directorate and Ministerial Offices. As the directorate’s representative and primary point of contact within a Minister’s Office, you will provide a comprehensive, responsive and professional service to the Minister, their Office, the Directorate-General and the wider directorate.

This role offers a valuable insight into the workings of the ACT Legislative Assembly and government decision-making processes, while enhancing your visibility and professional networks across the directorate. You will develop and maintain effective working relationships with Ministers’ Offices, executive leaders and key stakeholders, provide high-level advice, coordinate ministerial and cabinet workflows, and ensure the directorate remains informed, responsive and aligned with government priorities. You will also monitor emerging issues and provide timely advice to senior executives on matters requiring attention.

The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication,

organisational and stakeholder management skills, together with sound judgement, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality. The role requires a flexible and highly responsive approach, often working to tight deadlines and, at times, extended hours due to operational requirements.

The DLO position is a rotational placement, typically for a period of 12 months. This recruitment process will establish a merit pool to fill current and future DLO vacancies that may arise over the following 12 months. The DLO role includes a DLO Allowance, which is 7% of the fortnightly rate of pay for the employee's classification calculated on ordinary hours worked in that fortnight, paid fortnightly in arrears. It is not paid during leave and does not count as salary, except for super.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
