About the Role

We are seeking experienced and compassionate Disability Support Workers who are 25 years or older to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team in Taylors Lakes. This role involves supporting a man in his 30’s with high complex care needs within a residential setting and offers a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster, including active night shifts.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled support worker who is passionate about delivering person-centred support and empowering people with disability to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.

The role is casual to commence with a view to permanent part time after 12 months.

The participant is non-verbal and uses alternative communication methods to express preferences, needs and choices.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality, person-centred support

- Assist with PEG/gastrostomy care

- Provide catheter care

- Support complex bowel care requirements





- Assist with complex wound care and skin integrity monitoring

- Engage in thorough hand hygiene practices

- Implement safe transfer and manual handling practices

- Support mealtime assistance plans for Severe Dysphagia

- Facilitate community participation and social inclusion

- Support alternative communication methods and individual communication strategies

- Driving the participants modified vehicle for community access (you must be 25 years or older)

Shift Availability The service operates on a rotating 24/7 roster, including active night shifts.

Shifts vary form 2 hours to 10 hours 24/7 a week. Example shift times include:

- Morning shifts - 7am to 4pm

- Afternoon shifts - 4pm to 10pm

- Short day shifts - 7am to 12pm

- Active night shifts - 10pm to 7am

Flexibility to work across a range of shifts is essential.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

- 2 years minimum experience supporting people with high-intensity complex care needs

- Demonstrated experience with PEG/gastrostomy and catheter care

- Experience with transfers and manual handling

- Experience supporting non-verbal individuals - PODD

- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication methods, or a willingness to learn

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A professional, reliable and compassionate approach to support work

- Experience with severe dysphagia management
- A calm approach, pro-active and able to take direction/instruction





Essential Requirements for applicants to be considered for interview:

- Excellent clear spoken English

- Demonstratable experience in all key responsibilities listed above

- Ability to complete and maintain complex care competencies and training requirements

- Relevant qualifications with minimum 2 years’ experience and/or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in providing high complex care disability supports

- NDIS Worker Screening Check

- Current First Aid and CPR certification (Australian RTO issued only accepted)

- Current Drivers License

- 2 Australian work-related references

- Unrestricted work rights in Australia
