Join a growing Mackay team in a hands-on Draftsperson role across mining, fabrication and project works Your new company Our client is a Mackay-based, locally owned and family-oriented business delivering mechanical, structural, engineering, fabrication, maintenance and project solutions across the Queensland resources sector.

Your new role Create detailed technical, fabrication and workshop drawings using SolidWorks or similar software

Develop 3D models and drawings for mechanical and structural projects Interpret sketches, site measurements, scopes of work, engineering information and client specifications Produce workshop-ready assemblies, layouts and detailed fabrication drawings

Review enquiries, drawings and specifications to determine project requirements Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for fabrication, manufacturing, repair and project works Complete accurate material and quantity take-offs

Estimate labour, materials, equipment, subcontractor requirements and project costs Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor pricing as required Assist with competitive tender and quotation submissions

Identify scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions, risks and potential variations Work closely with workshop, engineering, project and business development teams Assist with determining fabrication methodologies and realistic workshop labour requirements

Maintain accurate drawing registers, revision control,



estimating records and quotation documentation Assist with the handover of successful quotations to workshop and project delivery teams Review completed projects against estimates to improve future costing accuracy

What you'll need to succeed Previous experience as a Draftsman, Estimator or Draftsman / Estimator within fabrication, manufacturing, mining or similar heavy industry Strong drafting and 3D modelling capabilities, with SolidWorks highly regarded

Good understanding of structural steel and mechanical fabrication Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and scopes of work Experience completing material take-offs, labour estimates and project costing

Practical understanding of fabrication processes and workshop operations Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong organisational and time-management skills

Ability to manage multiple quotations, drawings and competing priorities Solid communication skills with the ability to collaborate across workshop, engineering, projects and management teams A trade background or previous hands-on fabrication experience will be highly regarded A qualification in drafting, engineering, mechanical design or a related discipline would be advantageous What you'll get in return You will receive a competitive salary package, along with a monthly RDO.
