Do you have lived experience of recovery from alcohol or other drug use and a passion for helping others? Murrumbidgee Local Health District is seeking a Drug and Alcohol Peer Worker to join our Community Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol team in Griffith.
This is an opportunity to use your recovery journey to inspire hope, build connection and support others to achieve their own recovery goals. As someone who understands that recovery is possible, you will bring a unique perspective to the team and play an important role in helping people navigate challenges, build resilience and reconnect with their communities.
Working alongside clinicians and other health professionals, you will provide practical support, encouragement, advocacy and recovery-focused care to people experiencing alcohol and other drug concerns, as well as their families and carers.
About the Role
As a Drug and Alcohol Peer Worker, you will:
- Use your lived experience of recovery to provide hope, understanding and support to others.
- Build respectful and trusting relationships with consumers, families and carers.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary Drug and Alcohol team.
- Support recovery-focused and person-centred care planning.
- Facilitate wellbeing, recovery and community connection activities.
- Assist consumers to access services, groups and community supports.
- Monitor consumer wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Contribute to a service culture that values recovery, inclusion and lived experience.
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Lived Experience Expertise of recovery from alcohol and/or other drug use.
- A level of personal recovery and wellbeing that enables the safe and purposeful use of lived experience to support others.
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or willingness to obtain within 18 months of commencement).
- A relevant health or community services qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting recovery and helping others achieve their goals.
- A current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel as required.

Renumeration: $67,584.00 - $112,558.00 per annum, pro rata (+ super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)
