The Role

We're looking for an experienced Combat System Support Systems Engineer to support the engineering development, integration, assurance and delivery of Combat System support capabilities, including shore-based engineering, test, verification, validation and training systems. This is a critical role as the engineering effort enters a significant growth phase, helping mitigate schedule, technical, integration and capability delivery risks.

You'll provide systems engineering expertise across the development and upgrade of land-based test systems and combat system team trainers, working closely with Navy stakeholders, subject matter experts, Integrated Project Teams and external suppliers to translate operational requirements into robust, affordable, operationally suitable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, analyse, manage and maintain system requirements throughout the systems engineering lifecycle
- Support translation of Navy operational needs into system, subsystem and support system requirements
- Perform requirements decomposition, traceability analysis, verification mapping and compliance assessments
- Conduct engineering trade studies and option analysis to support design decision-making
- Contribute to architecture development, design reviews and system integration activities




- Ensure engineering solutions comply with project, customer, regulatory and organisational requirements
- Support the design, development, integration and enhancement of land-based test systems, team trainers and shore-based engineering systems
- Assist in developing system concepts, use cases, operational scenarios and technical baselines
- Support development of testing, training and capability sustainment solutions
- Contribute to Ship 1 Verification and Validation (V&V;) activities
- Develop and review verification plans, procedures, test specifications and acceptance criteria
- Support test execution, data analysis, issue resolution and evidence-based compliance demonstration
- Provide engineering assurance of design outputs, technical artefacts and supplier deliverables
- Review and assure engineering products and design inputs from other project teams
- Engage with Royal Australian Navy stakeholders to capture operational requirements and user expectations
- Facilitate technical workshops and engineering reviews with project stakeholders
- Collaborate with combat system, training, cyber, safety and platform engineering teams
- Identify, assess and manage technical, integration and delivery risks
- Provide engineering advice on affordability, technical feasibility and schedule impacts
- Contribute to engineering change management and configuration management activities

Required

- Current NV1 security clearance
- Experience in requirements engineering, including elicitation, analysis, specification, verification and traceability




- Understanding of combat system architecture and associated equipment (e.g. combat management systems, sensors, weapons, tactical networks or support systems)
- Experience in training system technologies, including training needs analysis, synthetic training environments or distributed mission training systems
- Experience with land-based combat system test systems and data analysis, including test and evaluation methodologies and system integration laboratories
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across engineering, training, cyber, safety and platform disciplines
