The Company & project

Join this global EPC site delivery team on a major wind farm construction project in South Australia. The Environmental Specialist works closely with the Construction Manager providing site-based environmental oversight across construction activities and subcontractor delivery with a strong compliance and assurance focus.

You will lead the commitment to EPBC obligations, ensuring works are undertaken in accordance with environmental approvals, permits, statutory obligations and the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP). You will work with contractors, consultants and project stakeholders to verify compliance, manage environmental risks and provide explicit evidence-based reporting throughout construction.

Key Deliverables

- Manage and verify compliance with project environmental approvals, permits, statutory requirements and the CEMP throughout construction.
- Undertake site inspections, environmental audits and contractor compliance reviews, maintaining appropriate verification evidence.
- Maintain the project Compliance Register, tracking environmental commitments and obligations and escalating areas of non-compliance.
- Investigate environmental incidents and drive corrective actions through to closure, including escalation where State or Commonwealth notification may be required.

- Prepare environmental awareness material and monthly compliance reporting while engaging with contractors, consultants, client representatives and regulators as required.

Required Background

- Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or an equivalent discipline, with a current White Card.
- Demonstrated site-based environmental experience gained across major construction, infrastructure, mining or renewable energy projects.
- Strong practical knowledge of South Australian and Commonwealth environmental approvals, permitting and compliance requirements, ideally including EPBC Act requirements.
- Experience implementing CEMPs, undertaking environmental audits and incident investigations, and supervising or providing assurance over contractor activities.
- Previous wind farm, tier-one contractor, OEM or major renewable developer experience will be highly regarded, together with GIS, ISO 14001 or Lead Auditor experience.

Why Consider This Opportunity? Take a hands-on environmental role within the construction phase of a major South Australian renewable energy project, where your work will have direct visibility across site delivery and project leadership. You will be embedded within the construction environment, working closely with contractors and site management to translate environmental obligations into practical outcomes.
