Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Gold Coast, QLD for an experienced Structural Engineer. The role involves designing and reviewing structural systems for residential and commercial projects, including light gauge steel and conventional construction.
The Structural
Engineer will prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications; perform structural analysis; and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and local regulations. Daily tasks include collaborating with project managers, consulting engineers, soil testers, and surveyors, as well as coordinating with subdivision and residential building teams to resolve design issues and support project delivery.
The role also includes performing site inspections, reviewing construction documentation, providing technical advice to internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
Qualifications
- Strong structural engineering fundamentals, including experience with reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and light gauge steel design.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, SpaceGass, or similar) and CAD/BIM tools.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian building codes, standards, and local council requirements.
- Experience collaborating with project managers, soil testers, surveyors, and other engineering disciplines on multi-stakeholder projects.
- Ability to prepare clear structural drawings, calculation packages, and technical reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented, on-site environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent); skilled registration or progress toward chartered/registered status is highly regarded.
- Experience with residential and subdivision projects on the Gold Coast or broader QLD region is an advantage.
