Role Description The Fabricator is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Sydney Area. This role involves fabricating thermoplastic components to specification using equipment such as saws, routers, CNC machines, and forming tools. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting drawings, measuring and cutting materials, assembling and finishing plastic products, and maintaining tools and machinery in safe working order.
The Fabricator will work closely with the production team to meet quality standards, delivery timelines, and safety requirements, while assisting with material handling, job setup, and workflow improvements. The role may also include basic maintenance,
inspection of finished products, and collaboration with supervisors and engineers to resolve technical issues.
Qualifications
- Experience in plastic fabrication or general fabrication, including measuring, cutting, forming, and assembling materials to technical drawings or job specifications.
- Hands-on skills with workshop equipment such as saws, drills, routers, CNC machines, heat bending/forming tools, and hand tools, with a strong focus on safe operation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, templates, and work instructions, with strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Understanding of basic manufacturing processes, tolerances, and finishing techniques (e.g., polishing, deburring, bonding, and fixing methods for plastics).
- Solid awareness of workplace health and safety practices, including manual handling, personal protective equipment, and safe housekeeping in a fabrication workshop.
- Positive problem-solving skills, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
- Previous experience in plastics, machining, or related industries (e.g., shopfitting, signage, construction, or manufacturing) is highly regarded.
- Relevant trade qualification, certificate in fabrication, machining, or similar field, or equivalent practical experience is beneficial.
