Hader Clinic Queensland's Family and Aftercare Coordinator
The Family and Aftercare Coordinator will provide short-term intensive, therapeutic services to assist the family and support network of the individual attending residential rehabilitation for AOD issues. The aim is to help families enhance their communication and understanding of each other through facilitated support and education sessions. The Family and Aftercare Coordinator will provide support and case management to the aftercare clients through facilitated recovery education sessions and therapeutic services following completion of their initial residential rehabilitation program.
Role Summary:
- The purpose of the Family and Aftercare Coordinator is to provide confidential brief interventions and support to individuals and their families and for promoting healthy lifestyles and healthy choices in addiction recovery.
- Contributes to and shares responsibility in delivering monthly Family Support Sessions and twice monthly Family Education Sessions in the context of the drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.
- The Family and Aftercare Coordinator will work with the Clinical Services Manager and clinical staff in the delivery of the overall vision and quality of Hader Clinic Queensland.
- Contributes to and shares responsibility in the delivery of best practice and promotion of long-term treatment pathways from residential rehabilitation, transitional housing and outpatient programs.
Qualifications:
- A tertiary qualification in the family therapy, counselling, social or behavioural sciences field.
Experience:
- Personal experience with addiction and recovery preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of and working in a “12 Step Recovery Program”.
- Significant demonstrated experience working within the AOD treatment sector.
- Experience and knowledge of group facilitation.
- Understanding of contemporary family therapy practice issues.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of quality improvement principles.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and conflict management skills with the ability to develop and implement creative solutions as well as address specific challenges.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Advanced clinical experience in AOD treatment, and family therapy delivery
- Capacity to provide a high standard of family therapy services.
- Demonstrated capacity to work within an interdisciplinary team.
- Attention to detail including highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team, demonstrating good time management skills.
- Skilled in conflict management and de-escalation techniques.
- Current drivers’ licence and ability to travel.
