Role Description The Finance Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Darwin, NT, responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial operations within the Northern Territory Government. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing financial statements, assisting with financial reporting, and maintaining general ledger entries and reconciliations. The role involves analysing financial data to provide insights as well as supporting compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and accounting standards.
The Finance
Officer will collaborate with internal stakeholders to explain financial information clearly, respond to queries, and contribute to process improvements. The position requires consistent attention to detail, robust organisational skills, and reliable delivery of financial information to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong finance skills, including experience with customising Financial Reporting.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, support and inform decision-making.
- Candidates should possess clear and professional Communication skills to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline are highly desirable.
- Experience in public sector finance, budgeting, or treasury functions, and familiarity with government financial frameworks, is an advantage.
- Proficiency with financial systems and spreadsheets, strong attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment are beneficial.
