Hays is currently partnering with Murdoch University to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant for a six-month maternity leave contract within their Procurement and Financial Performance division.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accounting professional to join a large and collaborative finance function, supporting key financial reporting, asset accounting and audit activities during a critical reporting period.
Your New Role
Reporting to the Financial Accounting team leadership, you will be responsible for delivering a range of financial accounting and reporting activities, including:
- Year-end accounting and financial reporting
- Balance sheet reconciliations and variance investigation
- Fixed asset accounting and reporting
- Lease accounting and asset management activities
- Capital project accounting and asset capitalisation
- Supporting year-end financial reporting requirements
- Assisting with the preparation and coordination of financial audits
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and external auditors
- Providing ad hoc financial accounting support as required
What You'll Need to Succeed To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- CA or CPA qualification (essential)
- Previous Financial Accountant experience in a medium to large organisation
- Strong understanding of fixed assets, lease accounting and capital projects
- Experience performing complex reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
- Knowledge of financial reporting and audit processes
- Strong ERP systems experience (Workday exposure beneficial but not essential)
- The ability to work independently and quickly adapt to recent environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
