Primary objective The provision of front counter and administrative support to assist staff in their daily duties; working collaboratively with the local community and stakeholders to provide information, guidance, and reassurance, while fostering positive relationships and supporting community engagement.
Context statement The Front-Line Support Officer at Katherine Police Station serves as the first point of contact for members of the public, delivering courteous, professional, and effective assistance.
The role supports frontline policing by managing non-emergency reports and undertaking a range of administrative duties and reports directly to the Administration Sergeant.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assessing internal and external customers’ needs and take appropriate actions.
2. Accurately record and manage incident information in SerPro and prepare operational reports in accordance with established
procedures.
1. Provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of police operations.
2. Complete minor enquiries, including initial complaints, and refer customer requests to the appropriate unit.
3. Manage internal mail, banking, licence and application payments, and raise relevant flags.
4. Assess and process shooter licence and firearm permit applications, verifying eligibility and compliance before recording in SAFER.
5. Respond to MDEA Portal enquiries regarding the Banned Drinker Register.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Highly organized and reliable, with a proven track record of managing records, mail, payments, and reports with accuracy and care.
2. Proven experience delivering high-quality customer service and performing a range of administrative duties.
3. Demonstrated ability to understand police operations, firearms licensing processes, and compliance requirements.
4. Strong written and verbal skills for reporting and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated competence in, or the ability to quickly acquire skills in, office software and database systems such as SerPro, SAFER,
and the MDEA Portal.
1. Maintain confidentiality and adheres to ethical standards.
Desirable
1. Strong and comprehensive knowledge of police procedures and regulatory requirements, including licences and permits, ensuring
