As a CBRE Facilities Incident Response (FIR), you will be responsible for providing dedicated, rostered coverage for building services incidents and alarms across campus. The FIR Handyperson is a new, permanent role within this service. The role monitors BMS and AIMS alarms and directs the FIR Technician to incidents in the first instance.
It also performs steam boiler blow downs each shift (training provided) and escalates to the relevant specialist contractor where the FIR Technician is unable to resolve or make safe an issue requiring urgent attention.

About your current role:
- Monitor BMS and AIMS alarms continuously through the shift
- Direct the FIR Technician to attend and investigate incidents in the first instance
- Perform steam boiler blow downs each shift (training provided)
- Undertake minor HVAC maintenance, such as filter cleans
- Escalate to the relevant specialist contractor where the FIR Technician cannot resolve or make safe an urgent issue
- Provide reporting inputs on: after-hours avoidance (what was triaged and what follow-up is needed), continuous improvement suggestions,
surge event hours assisting the Technician role, alarm root cause, and idle time waiting for incidents
Roster
- 10-week cycle: 4 days on, 2 days + 2 nights, 4 days off, 2 standbys (28 shifts per cycle)
- 12.5-hour shifts, 7am–7pm (or overnight equivalent), with handover at the start and end of every shift
- Average 35 hours per week
- A technical (Technician) role covers evenings as first responder to call outs, except Sundays and public holidays
Skills and Experience:
Must have:
- Relevant trade or handyperson experience in building maintenance or facilities environment.
- Experience monitoring BMS/alarm systems
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- OH &S; General Induction White Care required.
- Working with Children Check
Nice to have:
- Experience operating steam boiler plant
- First Aid certificate
- Working at heights ticket
