HEAD CHEF – RASCALS AT COWARAMUP BREWING CO

Cowaramup, Margaret River Region WA

Full-Time | $90,000 + Super

About Us

Rascals at Cowaramup Brewing Co is looking for a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen as we enter an exciting new chapter.

Located in the heart of the Margaret River region, Rascals is a relaxed, family-friendly brewery focused on great food, cold beer and good times.

Following a major renovation and refresh of the venue, we’re building a strong team and looking for a Head Chef who wants to take ownership of the kitchen, lead from the front and help us create a food offering that people genuinely come back for.

The Role

This is a hands-on Head Chef position.

You’ll lead a kitchen team consisting of a Commis Chef, Apprentice Chef and Kitchen Hands, working closely with the owners and FOH team to deliver consistent, quality food.

We’re not looking for someone who wants to spend their entire week in an office.

We want a chef who enjoys being in the kitchen, developing their team and running a great service.

The venue currently trades Wednesday to Sunday, with a future opportunity to expand into breakfast service as the business grows. The successful candidate will have the prospect to contribute to the planning and development of this next stage.

Your responsibilities will include

Leading and managing the kitchen team

Running and overseeing daily kitchen service

Maintaining food quality, presentation and consistency

Managing preparation and production

Kitchen rostering and managing labour within agreed targets

Food ordering and supplier management

Stock control and stocktakes

Managing food costs, portion control and waste

Training and developing junior kitchen staff

Maintaining food safety and kitchen compliance

Ensuring cleaning and kitchen procedures are followed

Contributing to menu development and seasonal specials

Helping develop future breakfast offerings

Working closely with FOH to ensure smooth service

Supporting functions and events

Building a positive, organised and respectful kitchen culture The Food

Our approach is simple: great brewery food done properly.

We’re not trying to be fine dining.

We want generous, approachable food with big flavours, quality local produce and a South West influence.

The menu is designed to work in a busy brewery environment while still giving the kitchen room to be creative with specials and seasonal dishes.

As we look towards a future breakfast offering, we’re also interested in developing food that suits relaxed morning trade, using quality local produce and the same approachable style that defines Rascals.

Consistency, speed and quality are more important to us than making things unnecessarily complicated.

Who We’re Looking For

You may already be an experienced Head Chef, or you could be a strong Sous Chef ready to take the next step and run your own kitchen.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has strong commercial kitchen experience

Can confidently lead a busy service

Is organised and reliable

Leads from the front

Understands food and labour costs

Has experience with ordering and stock control

Can train and develop junior chefs

Maintains high food safety and cleanliness standards

Communicates well with FOH and management

Stays calm when service gets busy

Takes pride in consistency and presentation

Is interested in helping shape a future breakfast offering

Wants to build a great team without the ego

Above all,

we’re looking for someone who cares about the kitchen, the team and the food they’re putting across the pass.

What We Offer

$90,000 + super

Along with

Full-time permanent position

Newly renovated brewery and kitchen

Established venue in the Margaret River region

Support from hands-on ownership and management

Commis Chef, Apprentice Chef and Kitchen Hand support

Input into menu development and specials

Opportunity to help develop a future breakfast service

Chance to work with quality South West produce and suppliers

Opportunity to build and develop your kitchen team

Staff benefits and brewery perks

Long-term opportunity as Rascals grows

Sponsorship may be available for the right candidate The Lifestyle

We’re a South West brewery, not a late-night CBD restaurant.

The venue currently trades Wednesday to Sunday, with the kitchen finishing service at 5pm.

As the business grows, there may be an opportunity to introduce breakfast service in the future. This role will suit someone who is excited by the chance to help shape that development while still enjoying a venue that does not rely on late-night finishes.

You’ll still need to be available for our busiest periods, particularly weekends, but we want to build a workplace where our team can have a life outside of work too.

Apply

If you’re an experienced chef looking for a fresh opportunity — or a talented Sous Chef ready to step into your first Head Chef role — we’d love to hear from you.

We are open to considering sponsorship for the right candidate, subject to eligibility and applicable visa requirements.

Send through your CV along with a short introduction telling us about yourself, your experience and what you’re looking for in your next role.
