Looking for a Head Chef role with a better work-life balance? At Mash Brewing Swan Valley, our trading hours mean predominantly daytime shifts and little to no late nights.
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. You’ll enjoy being on the tools during service while building a capable team, running an organised kitchen and delivering consistently good food. Working closely with our venue management team, you’ll take ownership of the kitchen’s day-to-day performance.
Our trading hours are Sunday–Thursday, 11 am–6 pm, and Friday–Saturday, 11 am–9 pm.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the kitchen team and set the standard during service
- Maintain food quality, presentation and consistency across regular dining and functions
- Develop menus, specials and recipes that suit the venue and customers
- Recruit, train, roster and develop kitchen staff
- Manage food and labor costs against agreed targets
- Oversee ordering, supplier relationships, stock takes and wastage
- Use Restoke to manage recipes, costings and inventory
- Maintain food safety, cleaning and workplace safety standards
- Work closely with front of house and functions staff to plan and deliver smooth service
About you
- Experience as a Head Chef in a busy venue, or strong senior kitchen leadership experience
- Confidence leading a team through high-volume service
- Proven menu planning, recipe costing and stock control skills
- Proficiency in Restoke or a similar kitchen management system
- A practical approach to labor management and kitchen organisation
- Clear communication, accountability and a positive leadership style
