We operate across four pillars - loyalty, data, retail media and AI, turning millions of customer interactions into insights that shape how Australians shop, live and connect.
Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, the Head of Data Intelligence is responsible for the development, evolution and performance of the Group’s shared data asset and the Group’s data intelligence foundations.
The role owns how customer, B2B, product, digital and commercial data is integrated, governed and transformed into trusted insights and intelligence that support commercial decision-making and AI-enabled experiences across Wesfarmers.
Working closely with data science and technology leaders, the role ensures the Group has the highest quality data, knowledge and intelligence foundations available which can be commercialised to drive maximum commercial value for the Group.
The role leads a high-performing team and plays a key role in determining where Wesfarmers invests in data and intelligence capabilities to generate sustainable value into the future.
What you’ll do
· Partner with the Chief Data Officer to define the strategy, roadmap and investment priorities for the Group’s data and intelligence capabilities
· Own the design, development and evolution of the Shared Data Asset, ensuring investment is directed towards opportunities that create the highest quality data intelligence foundations for the Group
· Partner with the leader of Data commercialisation to quantify and demonstrate the value generated from the Shared Data Asset by the Wesfarmers retail businesses and corporate office
· Build and maintain trusted identity, attributes, behavioural segments and audiences that strengthen the Group’s understanding of customers and support personalisation, retail media, loyalty and other commercial use cases
· Work closely with data science and engineering teams to ensure data products, analytical models and intelligence capabilities operate as a coherent ecosystem
· Lead the shaping of the Wesfarmers’ data intelligence foundations to support the development of a context layer for all Group AI models and agents
· Ensure data and intelligence capabilities are governed, secure and compliant, embedding appropriate privacy, quality, lineage and access controls
· Build and lead a high-performing team across data integration, analytics and intelligence
· Build capability across OneDigital and the divisions to improve the quality and effectiveness of data and AI-led decision-making
What you’ll need
· 10+ years' senior experience leading data, analytics or AI functions within a large, complex or data-intensive organisation.
· Demonstrated experience building or maturing an enterprise-scale retail data asset or data layer (e.g. a customer data platform, data mesh or shared data asset), including integrating data across multiple domains.
· Track record translating data into commercial value — such as personalisation, incrementality or cross-shop analytics — ideally in retail, e-commerce or consulting.
· Experience using emerging AI and agentic architectures and an understanding of how data and knowledge foundations can be accelerated is highly regarded.
· Demonstrated people-leadership experience, including leading data analysts, consultants, data science or insight teams.
· Deep understanding of advanced analytics, data modelling techniques, machine learning and generative/agentic AI concepts, data architecture, and data analytics practices at enterprise scale.
· Strong analytical and commercial acumen, able to translate complex data into decision-ready, high-impact insights.
· Sound understanding of data governance and privacy, and how they build trust in a shared data asset.
· Strong stakeholder management, able to partner effectively across data commercialisation, data science, technology and divisional teams.
