Company
Our client is a well-established and highly reputable company operating across multiple markets. As a market leader, this organization has cultivated a culture that promotes diversity, inclusivity, and flexibility. They encourage creativity through supportive and empowering leadership, making it a truly fulfilling environment for professional growth.
The country, region and organisation have continued successful growth over many years. With additional investment they are looking at accelerating that growth further to take advantage of opportunities that have been identified.
Opportunity
This is an opportunity to play a key role in elevating manufacturing performance, quality and operational excellence across a leading health manufacturing operation.
You'll lead the agenda to improve manufacturing — driving greater efficiency, reducing waste and variability, improving right-first-time performance and embedding a culture of structured problem solving and continuous improvement.
Working across Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Technical teams, you'll bring together Lean thinking, quality excellence and manufacturing capability to deliver sustainable improvements in safety, quality, service and cost.
You will have strong technical knowledge in Manufacturing and LEAN principles but your strength will be your leadership. This is an opportunity to step into a Quality function to change from compliance to an enabler - as part of your journey to an Operations Director or other Senior Leader.
This isn't simply a traditional Manufacturing Quality leadership role. We're looking for someone who enjoys being close to the operation, understanding how processes work and their impacts on behaviours, identifying opportunities to improve them and bringing people with them on the journey.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Manufacturing Excellence and Quality agenda across tablet and capsule manufacturing operations.
- Drive the deployment of Lean and Continuous Improvement principles, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, quality, flow and manufacturing performance.
- Establish and embed structured problem-solving methodologies, using data and root-cause analysis to eliminate recurring issues.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing and Operations leaders to improve measures such as OEE, right-first-time, yield, waste, downtime and process variability.
- Lead initiatives that simplify processes, eliminate waste and improve manufacturing efficiency without compromising GMP or product quality.
- Build a culture where teams proactively identify problems, understand root causes and continuously improve the way they work.
- Develop and embed manufacturing performance measures, visual management and effective performance routines.
- Lead and develop QA, QC and Validation capability, ensuring quality remains embedded within the manufacturing process.
- Provide quality and technical leadership across manufacturing, including investigation, CAPA, validation and process improvement.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to balance quality, service, cost and manufacturing performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve process capability and standardisation across manufacturing operations.
- Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels to deliver sustainable change.
- Ensure manufacturing processes continue to meet applicable GMP, TGA and regulatory requirements.
- Build capability in Lean, problem solving and continuous improvement across the broader manufacturing organisation.
Experience
We're looking for a hands-on manufacturing excellence leader who can combine operational thinking with a strong understanding of quality and regulated manufacturing.
You'll ideally bring
- Significant leadership experience within manufacturing, operational excellence, continuous improvement or manufacturing quality within the FMCG or health manufacturing industry
- Strong experience applying Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment.
- A track record of delivering measurable improvements in productivity, quality, waste, yield, OEE, cost and process efficiency.
- Experience using structured problem-solving methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, DMAIC, RCA or similar.
- Robust understanding of manufacturing processes and how to identify and eliminate process losses and variability.
- Experience leading cross-functional improvement programs and influencing operational teams.
- Strong people leadership capability, with a focus on building capability rather than simply solving problems for the team.
- Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment, ideally pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, complementary medicines, food or FMCG.
- A strong understanding of GMP and quality requirements and the ability to balance compliance with operational performance.
- Experience across areas such as QA, QC, validation, process improvement or manufacturing engineering would be highly regarded.
