Head of Physical Security (Embedded)

About the Role

SPG is seeking an experienced security professional to join our team as Head of Physical Security (Embedded), leading the protective security function for a prominent Sydney-based organisation.

This is more than a traditional security management role.

As SPG's senior embedded security representative, you will take ownership of a significant physical security operation at an important stage of its development, shaping its people, systems, standards and operating model while acting as a trusted security partner to senior client stakeholders.

You will have the opportunity to influence both strategy and operations, while remaining close enough to the environment to lead when it matters.

The role will:

- Lead and oversee the day-to-day delivery of security operations, ensuring a safe, secure and professional operating environment.
- Drive preparedness, operational readiness and security standards across personnel, procedures and systems.
- Lead the management of incidents, investigations, emergency response and security-related escalations.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, service providers, contractors and external agencies.
- Maintain and enhance security policies, procedures, emergency plans and governance frameworks.
- Oversee access control, CCTV, alarm, key management and other security technologies.
- Manage guarding providers and contractors, ensuring performance, compliance and service excellence.
- Deliver security briefings, exercises and awareness initiatives to strengthen organisational resilience.




- Monitor security risks and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Prepare reports, metrics and recommendations to support informed decision-making and strategic planning.
- Support budgeting, procurement and the effective management of security-related resources.

About you You will bring at least five years' experience across protective security, security operations, law enforcement, military, risk management, security consulting or a related environment.

Importantly, you will have demonstrated leadership experience within a complex, high-profile or operationally sensitive environment and be comfortable operating with both senior executives and frontline security teams.

You will also have

- Robust knowledge of protective security and security risk management
- Experience leading incidents, investigations and emergency response
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong judgement, leadership and problem-solving capability
- The ability to operate independently while drawing on SPG's broader intelligence, operational and technical capabilities
- All relevant NSW security licences and registrations, or eligibility to obtain them
