About the role

As the Head of Management Accounting, you will lead Council’s management accounting function and provide the financial insight that supports informed decision making across the organisation. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, analysis and modelling, helping leaders understand financial performance, risks and opportunities while supporting long-term financial sustainability.

Leading a team of finance specialists, you will work closely with managers and business areas to provide practical financial advice, strengthen financial literacy and support service planning.

This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).

This is a Band 8 role with a salary range between $132,089 and $142,407 per annum, plus superannuation.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

- Extensive experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a finance setting.
- Strong financial analysis and modelling skills, with the ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- The ability to translate complex financial information into clear and practical advice for a range of stakeholders.
- Experience preparing reports, presentations and recommendations for senior leaders.
- Strong business partnering skills and the ability to build productive working relationships across diverse teams.




- Experience supporting organisational planning and decision making through evidence-based financial insights.
- A sound understanding of financial governance, compliance and best-practice financial management.
- The ability to identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes and reporting practices.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with relevant professional experience.
