Perth Waldorf School Invites applications for High School Camp Leader & Coordinator (0.5FTE minimum) with scope for growth - Commencing Term 1, 2027
Are you passionate about the outdoors, working with young people, and creating experiences that challenge, inspire and stay with students long after they leave school? Perth Waldorf School is seeking an enthusiastic, capable and adventurous High School Camp Leader & Coordinator to join our team from the beginning of 2027.
For the right person, there is genuine scope for the role to grow over time, with opportunities to take on broader camp coordination and leadership responsibilities, alongside a potential increase in hours.
Our High School has a rich and vibrant camp program, with outdoor experiences forming an integral part of our students' educational journey. We are seeking someone who brings energy, creativity, sound judgement and a genuine love of outdoor education to the planning, coordination and leadership of camps for Classes 7–9.
Our Approach to Camps
At Perth Waldorf School, camps are an important part of Steiner education, offering young people opportunities to connect with one another, develop a deeper relationship with the natural world, and discover more about themselves and their place within it.
Our camp program is guided by an understanding of adolescent development. We consider what students need at each stage of their journey, both individually and as a class community, and how experiences in the landscape can support their emerging sense of self, growing independence and capacity to meet challenges.
We value adventure and physical challenge, but equally important are the opportunities to develop courage, resilience, responsibility and compassion, while strengthening the social and moral fabric of the group.
We are looking for someone who understands that meaningful outdoor education is not simply about what students do, but about who they are becoming through the experience.
About the Role
This is a part-time position encompassing the planning, coordination,
administration and leadership of our Class 7–9 camp program.
The role includes developing engaging, developmentally appropriate programs; managing bookings, budgets and camp logistics; preparing risk assessments and documentation; coordinating staff and external providers; communicating with families; and leading students during camps.
Attendance at a minimum of six camps per year is expected, with a strong preference for the successful applicant to also attend Class 10 and 11 camps to support their delivery.
Mentoring and Opportunities for Growth
Our experienced Camp Coordinator, who will continue to lead the Class 10 & 11 camps, will provide mentoring, practical support and guidance as you settle into the role.
For the right person, there is genuine scope for the role to grow over time, with opportunities to take on broader camp coordination and leadership responsibilities, alongside a potential increase in hours.
This is an opportunity to become part of an established and much-loved program, learn alongside an experienced colleague, and contribute your own ideas, skills and enthusiasm to its continued development.
What We Are Looking For:
We would love to hear from someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for outdoor education, adventure and working with adolescents.
- Has experience in camp leadership, outdoor education or a related field.
- Is organised, resourceful and confident in coordinating camp programs, administration and logistics.
- Has experience preparing risk assessments and managing safety requirements for outdoor activities.
- Can build positive relationships with young people while maintaining clear expectations and appropriate boundaries.
- Brings creativity,
initiative, sound judgement and a team-oriented approach.
- Is interested in learning about and working within Steiner education, including the developmental needs of young people.
- Is enthusiastic about developing their own leadership skills and contributing to the ongoing development of our camp program.
