Coolon LED Lighting

Hallam

About the Company

Coolon Pty Ltd is a a multi-award-winning 100% Australian-owned advanced electronics manufacturer based in Hallam, a south-eastern suburb of Melbourne, specialising in premium LED lighting and smart technology for industrial, mining, commercial and architectural applications.

Our products combine electronics, embedded software, mechanical engineering and advanced manufacturing, and are designed for demanding environments where reliability and performance matter.

The standards we set for our products also shape the way we run our business. We care about doing things properly, looking after our people and creating an environment where good people want to stay, grow and do their best work.

We are looking for an HR Specialist who shares that approach, someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and can help us continue to support and develop our employees as the business grows.

We are open to both part time and full-time arrangements for the right person.

About the Role

This is a varied, on-site HR role working closely with employees and managers across all areas of our business, including engineering, manufacturing, sales and administration.

With our people working together on site, we believe HR should be part of that environment too: visible, approachable and connected to the people and the day-to-day workings of the business.

You will look after the full range of HR activities: from finding and welcoming new employees to supporting their development, maintaining our HR system and policies, assisting with employee matters and playing an active role in OHS/WHS.

You will have the independence to manage your responsibilities, the opportunity to improve things where you see a better way, and the support of a management team that genuinely cares about its people.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end recruitment across professional, technical and operational roles.
- Prepare employment contracts, variations and other HR correspondence.
- Coordinate employee onboarding, induction and offboarding.
- Provide practical HR support to managers and employees, and assist with employee relations matters as they arise.
- Coordinate performance reviews, employee development and training.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation and the HR system.
- Review and maintain HR policies, procedures and practices, keeping them current with legislative and business changes.
- Support OHS/WHS activities, compliance requirements and audits.
- Contribute to other HR initiatives and improvements across the business.

About You You are an experienced HR professional, approachable and supportive while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and objectivity.

You communicate clearly, exercise sound judgement and recognise when something needs attention, follow-up or escalation.

You are organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for matters from start to finish. You notice the details, follow things through and take pride in doing your work well.

Just as importantly, you understand that good HR is about people. You take the time to understand the business and the individuals within it, while balancing the needs of employees with those of the organisation.

Skills & Experience

- Demonstrated generalist HR experience within an engineering, manufacturing or technical environment.
- Strong recruitment experience, including professional and technical roles.
- Hands-on experience supporting managers and employees across a broad range of HR matters.
- Sound understanding of Australian employment legislation and HR practices.
- Practical knowledge of OHS/WHS requirements in a workplace environment.
- Clear, concise and professional communication skills.
- Sound judgement and the ability to handle employee matters objectively and appropriately.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and follow-through.
- Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience with Employment Hero or a similar HR system will be highly regarded.

What We Offer

- A stable, supportive and well-established Australian business.
- A varied role where you can get to know the people and understand how the company works, rather than being one small part of a large HR department.
- Paid birthday leave.

Superannuation above the statutory minimum.
- The opportunity to improve and develop our HR practices as your knowledge of the business grows.

And yes, we even have our own company band, so while musical ability isn't part of the selection criteria, we won't complain if you can sing or play an instrument.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume together with a short cover letter - but skip the generic AI version.

We value authenticity over formality. Tell us, in your own way, why this role caught your attention, what you would bring to it, and what you are looking for in your next workplace.

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
