The Role
Critical duties performed include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead and deliver ICT installation projects across multiple infrastructure environments, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and successful project outcomes.
- Install, configure, maintain and decommission ICT hardware and software across both classified and unclassified networks in accordance with Defence policies and procedures.
- Design, implement and support ICT architecture solutions that enable operational outcomes, including data ingestion, modelling and simulation activities, and integration of bespoke hardware systems.
- Provide specialist ICT systems administration expertise and technical advice to optimise the use of available assets and improve service delivery across multiple platforms and capabilities.
- Analyse, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, developing innovative and sustainable solutions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Apply industry best practice and Defence standards to maintain the reliability, security and performance of ICT systems and services.
- Support change management activities to ensure continuity of ICT services and minimise impacts to business operations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address non-routine, emerging and contingency requirements.
- Tailor technical communication to a diverse range of stakeholders, ensuring information is transparent, accurate and fit for purpose.
- Build and maintain solid stakeholder relationships to support Defence capability outcomes and customer service excellence.
About our Team
Joint Survivability Tactics and Validation unit (JSTVU)
a small Unit under JCG (Joint Capabilities Group), initially established to provide a survivability and tactics validation capability for Navy and Army based on the Air Force airborne countermeasures development and validation exemplar. A small and dynamic team, JSTVU advantages from the diversity of its people, which includes uniformed, public service and specialist contractors.
JSTVU are supported through both Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) public servants and contractors and employ an end-to-end trials process to assess susceptibility and vulnerability of naval and land platforms against threats that use of the electromagnetic spectrum. In developing these assessments, JSTVU examines tactics, techniques, procedures, capability gaps and countermeasures through field trials, as well as synthetic modelling and simulation.

Security Clearance:
Positive Vetting: Prior to commencement, successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high security intelligence environment.
