Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Industrial Painter / Blaster to join our team.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Industrial Painter / Blaster, you will be responsible for preparing and coating fabricated steel components to meet project specifications, quality requirements and applicable industry standards.
Your responsibilities may include
- Preparing fabricated steel surfaces using abrasive blasting, sanding, grinding and other surface preparation methods.
- Cleaning, washing, stripping and removing corrosion from fabricated components prior to coating.
- Selecting appropriate coatings and mixing paints to specified requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
- Applying industrial coatings using conventional, airless and plural-component spray systems.
- Performing spray painting, product coating, touch-ups and finishing work as required.
- Identifying and applying appropriate surface preparation and blasting methods.
- Measuring and recording coating thicknesses, including Dry Film Thickness (DFT).
- Recording daily ambient conditions and completing required paint and coating reports, including batch numbers and other quality records.
- Reading and interpreting relevant drawings, specifications and coating requirements.
- Operating grinders, sanders, polishing equipment and other workshop tools safely.
- Cleaning and maintaining painting, coating, ventilation, compressed-air and personal protective equipment.
- Ensuring work meets required quality standards while maintaining productivity.
- Following all workplace health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate relevant industrial painting and blasting experience. Ideally, you will have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in industrial painting and/or abrasive blasting.
- Experience with industrial surface preparation and protective coating systems.
- Experience applying coatings using conventional, airless and/or plural-component spray systems.
- Knowledge of different blasting methods, painting techniques and coating applications.
- The ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical requirements.
- Experience completing paint reports and recording DFT measurements, batch numbers and ambient conditions.
- A strong understanding of secure equipment operation and surface preparation practices.
- The ability to consistently achieve quality and productivity requirements.
- Relevant trade qualifications, industrial painting certification and/or vocational or technical training will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of AMPP/NACE standards or relevant certification will be advantageous.
- Knowledge or experience working within an ISO or similar quality management system will be advantageous.
- A current Forklift Licence will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience supporting Mining and/or Defence projects will be highly regarded.
- Current Australian working rights.

The successful candidate will be required to complete relevant pre-employment checks and assessments applicable to the role.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Due to the nature of some of Century Engineering's Defence-related projects, applicants may be required to meet applicable Australian Government security, Defence and export-control requirements. Depending on the projects undertaken, this may include:
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain the required Australian Government security clearance.
- Australian citizenship where required for particular projects or security clearances.
- Satisfactory completion of relevant security, background and eligibility checks.
