Join The Australian National University as an Information Security Officer, where you will be instrumental in protecting and managing the university’s information and communication technology systems across both digital and non-digital environments.

About the Role

As an Information Security Officer, you will contribute to protecting ANU’s information, systems and digital environment in an evolving cyber security landscape. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide practical advice and support on information and cyber security matters, applying relevant policies, standards and procedures. You will analyse security activities and data, investigate security issues, identify vulnerabilities and emerging threats, and contribute to solutions that strengthen ANU’s security posture.

You will work closely with system owners, developers, infrastructure specialists, business areas, end users and external vendors, translating security requirements for both technical and non-technical audiences. This is an opportunity to contribute to important University-wide initiatives across cybersecurity, governance, data protection, security assurance, supply chain security and information security culture.

About You

We are seeking an adaptable and curious professional with a relevant degree or equivalent experience, education and training. Information security knowledge, experience or industry qualifications will be highly regarded. You will bring strong analytical, systems-thinking and problem-solving skills, together with creativity and an appreciation of technology and its security implications.

Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to technical and business audiences. A commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, innovation and equal opportunity is also expected.
