About the team The Intelligence unit is a specialist team that produces tactical, operational and strategic intelligence to identify high-risk regulatory activity. We support evidence-based compliance and enforcement decisions that protect consumers, businesses and communities across NSW.
The role includes hybrid working arrangements.
Your day-to-day
- Produce timely, accurate and outcomes-focused intelligence products using the intelligence cycle to support tactical, operational and strategic decision-making.
- Undertake intelligence and analytical projects relating to high-risk consumer, business and regulatory compliance activities.
- Identify and analyse emerging trends and issues in high-risk industries to help target compliance and enforcement activity.
- Use data extraction software, analytical systems and data manipulation techniques to interpret information and create intelligence products.
- Prepare clear technical advice and present complex intelligence to audiences with different levels of knowledge and experience.
- Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and state, federal and other regulatory, law-enforcement and intelligence bodies.
- Share knowledge and provide guidance to colleagues to strengthen intelligence capability across the team.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate
- Experience working in an intelligence environment or a similar analytical role, with knowledge of the NSW regulatory setting.
- A strong understanding of tactical and strategic intelligence, including the ability to prepare intelligence assessments and reports.
- The ability to research, critically analyse and interpret information, identify relationships and make evidence-based recommendations.
- Explicit written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts in plain English and tailor advice to different audiences.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- An understanding of relevant legislative and policy requirements, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
- Foster a collaborative team culture by sharing expertise, supporting colleagues, and promoting a one-team approach to delivering outcomes.
Essential requirements
- Appointment and ongoing assignment may be subject to mandatory pre-employment and ongoing probity screening in accordance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Satisfactory criminal record check.
- Ability to obtain and hold baseline security clearance to a PROTECTED level.
Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at 116981 base plus superannuation
