About Altura Health
Altura Health has been building software for the Australian healthcare sector for more than 30 years. Our products are used by hospitals and clinics across the country for patient administration, clinical workflows, billing, and healthcare integrations.
We are a friendly, highly skilled team with supportive leadership and a clear longer-term growth roadmap.
The role
You own the technical side of client integrations across our products: getting them set up, keeping them running, and resolving the issues our support and product teams escalate. That spans file transfers and HL7 messaging, APIs and webhooks with external integrators, database setup for new client environments, and the technical work involved in onboarding a new client or migrating an existing one.
This is not a software development role. You will work in tools such as Postman and SQL Server Management Studio, not in our applications codebase.
What you will be doing
- Setting up and maintaining the HealthLink Connector, our tool for FYDO-to-HealthLink integrations, alongside SFTP transfers still used for other clients.
- Setting up and troubleshooting SFTP transfers, including inbound patient data feeds from client systems and outbound HL7 file movement.
- Owning the technical workstream when a new client is onboarded, from first integrator conversation through to a working feed in production.
- Monitoring that patient data feeds and related services are running correctly, and investigating when they are not.
- Acting as the technical point of contact for external integrators: API and webhook changes, endpoint testing, and HMAC key generation and signature troubleshooting.
- Running database scripts to set up new client environments, working within a defined change and review process.
- Investigating single sign-on issues for client users signing in to our products, working through the identity configuration with the client's IT team or provider.
- Investigating other client-side technical issues such as scanner, printer and device connectivity.
- Moving patient documents and data during and after client migrations.
- Tracking certificate and key expiry across client integrations so renewals happen before a feed breaks, not after.
- Reproducing and isolating issues across system boundaries, so what reaches our developers is a well-defined problem rather than a report.
- Documenting how each client's integration is configured, so the next person troubleshooting it is not starting from scratch.
- Partnering with our business analysis and support teams on technical testing and integrator meetings.
What we are looking for Integration work sits between software engineering and client support: technically capable enough to debug a data feed end to end across systems and organisations, and disciplined enough to keep the detail straight across many clients at once.
- 5+ years in integration support, application support or technical support on production systems used by real customers, ideally where integrations with third parties were a core part of the role.
- Security-first mindset. This is essential, not a bonus. You handle patient data daily, and you treat access, credentials, logging and data movement with the care that requires.
- File transfer integrations. SFTP configuration, SSH keys and certificates, and confident troubleshooting when a transfer stops working.
- HL7 file handling. Understanding message structure well enough to read a file, spot a malformed one, and trace where in the chain it stopped. Familiarity with HealthLink or a similar clinical messaging network is a strong advantage.
- REST APIs and webhooks. Testing endpoints in Postman or similar, reading request and response logs, and working through authentication and HMAC signature issues with a third party.
- SQL Server. Writing and running queries and scripts in SSMS with care, investigating data issues, and working within a change process rather than around it.
- Application single sign-on. Troubleshooting why a client user cannot sign in to a web application: federation and token errors, certificate expiry, and configuration mismatches,
resolved with the client's IT team rather than escalated straight to development.
- Automating repetitive work. You notice when a manual process is being repeated and script your way out of it. We are not prescriptive about the language, whether PowerShell, Python or SQL.
- Robust ability to work independently. You will set some of your own priorities across a mixed workload, decide what needs escalating, and see tasks through across third parties without being chased.
- Clear written communication. You will be dealing directly with external integrators, clinical and administrative staff at client sites, and colleagues across product and delivery.
- Comfort working remotely and asynchronously, keeping people updated without being prompted.
Nice to have
- Australian healthcare software experience (HL7, Medicare and Services Australia, hospital or clinic systems).
- Experience supporting integrations with practice management or clinical systems from the vendor side.
- Familiarity with observability tooling such as Datadog for tracing a request across services.
- Exposure to ISO 27001, an ISMS, or another regulated privacy and security environment.
- Basic AWS familiarity (EC2, S3, IAM) in a support context.
- Working in a ticketing and service management workflow such as Jira.
Scope and support
- Australian business hours. No on-call or after-hours roster.
- Clear decision boundaries. Client priorities are set with your Product Manager. Technical standards, security decisions and vendor decisions sit with the CTO. You own execution and follow-through in your scope.
- Room to improve how the work runs. Once the day-to-day is steady, there is scope to build integration playbooks, reduce manual setup steps, and streamline integrator onboarding.
- Reporting to the CTO, working closely with our product management and delivery teams.
Why join us
- A 30+ year track record in the Australian healthcare market and a clear growth roadmap ahead.
- Friendly, highly skilled team and supportive leadership.
- Work that visibly matters to clients: when integrations run well, hospitals and clinics run well.
- Fully remote, anywhere in Australia, with Australian business hours.
How to apply Apply via LinkedIn, and include a short note about a technical problem you tracked down and fixed end to end, ideally one that crossed a system boundary or another organisation
