About Our Client
Our client is a growing boutique private equity firm based in Melbourne CBD, investing in high-quality businesses with strong growth potential. The firm takes a hands-on approach to value creation, partnering closely with management teams across the full investment lifecycle.
The Investment Associate will be responsible for:
- Assessing and evaluating new investment opportunities across a range of sectors.
- Conducting detailed financial, commercial, industry, and market analysis.
- Building and maintaining financial models, including valuation, DCF & LBO, and investment returns analysis.
- Supporting transaction execution across due diligence, structuring, financing, and completion.
- Preparing investment papers, presentations, and recommendations for the Investment Committee.
- Conducting industry and competitor research to support investment theses and opportunity assessment.
- Supporting deal origination and maintaining relationships with advisers, intermediaries, and other market participants.
- Working closely with portfolio company management teams on strategic initiatives, growth opportunities, and performance improvement.
- Monitoring portfolio company financial and operational performance against budgets, forecasts, and investment plans.
- Supporting bolt-on acquisitions, refinancing processes, and exit preparation.
- Assisting senior investment professionals across all stages of the investment lifecycle.
- Contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm's investment platform and portfolio.
The Successful Applicant
- Approximately 2-5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience within private equity, investment banking, corporate advisory, transaction services, valuations, strategy consulting, or a similar transaction-focused environment.
- A degree in finance, commerce, economics, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical capabilities.
- Sound understanding of financial statements, corporate finance, and investment principles.
- Experience working on transactions, investments, or complex commercial analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and an ability to form independent views on businesses and investment opportunities.
- Confident stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage with senior executives, advisers, and investment professionals.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial, and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- CFA, CA, or other relevant postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded but not essential.
