The Opportunity ZIMMERMANN is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team in Rosebery, Sydney. Reporting to the Global Head of IT, this full-time role is responsible for maintaining, administering, and enhancing our server, network, and cloud infrastructure to support high availability, security, and operational efficiency across the business.
This opportunity is ideal for a proactive,
solutions-focused infrastructure professional who enjoys technical problem solving, working autonomously, and contributing to business-wide technology initiatives in a dynamic global environment.
You will manage escalated infrastructure issues, build and implement new services, and support business continuity and disaster recovery requirements. You will also contribute technical expertise to strategic IT initiatives, design solutions aligned with business objectives, and strengthen team capability through clear documentation and knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities As IT Infrastructure Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain and administer IT servers, networks, and cloud infrastructure to support optimal uptime, performance, and security.
- Configure, design, and implement infrastructure in line with operational and security best practices.
- Resolve escalated infrastructure issues referred by Level 1 and Level 2 service desk teams within agreed service levels.
- Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements remain current, documented, and tested.
- Build and deploy new IT services across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to deliver infrastructure solutions that meet operational and project requirements.
- Provide technical expertise and input across IT and wider business projects and initiatives.
- Design solutions aligned with IT strategy and broader business objectives.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, processes, and procedures.
- Contribute to team upskilling, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Bring To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Strong experience administering enterprise server, network, and cloud infrastructure.
- Hands-on knowledge of hardware and hypervisors, including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Experience with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, and Certificate Services.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust networking and SASE environments, including Cloudflare One.
- Experience with application whitelisting solutions such as ThreatLocker.
- Experience with device management and patching through Microsoft Intune.
- Cloud platform experience across AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365.
- PowerShell scripting and automation capability.
- A sound understanding of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Project planning, project management, and budget management capability.
- A self-starting and adaptable approach, with the ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and documentation skills.
