About the role
Balcombe Grammar School is seeking an enthusiastic and solutions-focused IT Technician to join our IT team and provide high-quality technology support to staff and students across the School.
This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys working directly with people, solving problems and supporting technology in a dynamic educational environment. You will be part of a collaborative IT team and play an important role in ensuring our staff and students have reliable, secure and effective technology to support teaching, learning and day-to-day operations.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Technician will provide a broad range of first-level technical support and contribute to the ongoing maintenance and development of the School's technology environment.
Your responsibilities will include
- Providing responsive first-level IT support to staff and students via the Service Desk, phone and in person.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, connectivity and user-access issues and escalating complex matters where required.
- Supporting the deployment, maintenance and management of Windows devices using Microsoft Autopilot and Intune.
- Supporting the School's Apple iOS device fleet.
- Maintaining staff and student laptops and managing hardware warranty processes.
- Assisting with staff and student onboarding and offboarding, including user accounts and access.
- Supporting applications including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office, Adobe, Schoolbox, Synergetic and other learning technologies.
- Supporting printers, photocopiers and associated access systems.
- Assisting with Wi-Fi, network connectivity and internet access issues.
- Maintaining and supporting classroom technologies, including interactive whiteboards and Vivi wireless presentation systems.
- Supporting school security technology, including CCTV, security systems, school bell and PA systems.
- Providing backup support for audio-visual events and equipment maintenance.
- Maintaining accurate Service Desk records and internal IT documentation.
- Providing guidance and training to staff and students to build confidence and digital literacy.

- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
- Familiarity with both Windows and Apple operating systems.
Essential:
- Relevant IT knowledge and practical technical capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
- Familiarity with Windows and Apple operating systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
- Current right to work in Australia.
- A current Working with Children Check and satisfactory Police Check, or willingness to obtain these as required.
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualification, or current enrolment in a relevant IT discipline (University or TAFE).
- Previous experience in an IT support or service desk environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Apple device management or similar technologies.
