About the Role The Junior Contracts Administrator supports the Commercial Manager and Contract Administrators across the day-to-day commercial and contract administration of allocated projects and post-completion workstreams.
This is a development-focused role where you’ll gain practical experience across procurement, contract administration, cost management, variations, claims and payments, while building your commercial capability under the guidance of experienced team members.
You’ll work closely with project and site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure commercial information is accurately captured, project records are maintained and processes, systems and governance requirements are followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and administration of tender packages, including tenderer lists, queries, addenda, submissions and tender registers.
- Assist with tender comparisons, identifying exclusions, qualifications and scope gaps for review by the Contract Administrator.
- Maintain procurement records and tracking schedules within ProcurePro.
- Support subcontractor pre-qualification and the preparation of scopes of work.
- Assist with preparing subcontract agreements and maintaining contract documentation, correspondence and document registers.
- Record instructions, notices, variations and other commercial events within Plexa.
- Maintain project commitments, cost data, variation and claims registers, and assist with monthly cost reporting and forecast updates.
- Assist with the assessment and administration of subcontractor variations and claims.
- Process subcontractor progress claims and supplier invoices and assist with preparing payment schedules within required timeframes.
- Liaise with Finance to support accurate and timely payment processing.
- Support post-completion activities including defects, retention and security releases, handover documentation and subcontractor close-out.
- Maintain complete, accurate and audit-ready project records across company systems.
- Follow commercial procedures, approval workflows, governance requirements and HSEQ processes, escalating risks or non-compliance when required.
- Build effective working relationships with project, site and finance teams, as well as subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related field, either completed or in your final year.
- 0–2 years’ experience in construction, property development or a related commercial environment. Graduates and cadets are encouraged to apply.
- A current Construction Industry OHS White Card.
- Solid organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- A genuine interest in developing a career in construction commercial management and contract administration.
- Willingness to learn, take direction and build your commercial capability.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- An aptitude for systems and processes, with exposure to Plexa, ProcurePro or similar platforms highly regarded.
- A proactive and professional approach, with discretion when handling confidential commercial information.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
