Newcastle SLSC is an iconic community organisation- the oldest surf lifesaving club in the Hunter region, we've been serving our local community since 1908.
Situated right on Newcastle Beach, our venue is open for public Beachlife sessions every weekend and public holidays, featuring live music, beach eats, and cheap drinks - Beachlife is the perfect atmosphere to soak up the sun, sand and surf!

We would be aiming to increase remuneration along with training and experience in the role, not just mandated increases with age - we're not here for cheap labour, we genuinely want to nurture and develop skilled and happy junior team members!
This position is almost entirely weekend shifts across Saturdays, Sundays, as well as most Public Holidays - plenty of penalty rates available!
Shift start/end times range between 10am and 8pm (no split shifts, no late nights and no early mornings!)
In this role you will assist with the following:
- Preparation and cooking of a range of meals;
- Monitoring stock levels and preparation of order lists for food supplies;
- Correctly operate and maintain kitchen equipment under supervision;
- Assist with full kitchen operations including setup, service, closing and cleaning according to established procedures with oversight/assistance from senior staff.
- Work under supervision in a 1-3 person kitchen;
- Develop knowledge of standard procedures and policies relating to food preparation, receiving, preserving, freezing and storing all food products;
- Develop knowledge and enforcement of hygiene and safety requirements when handling food products;
About You:
- Keen to learn and not afraid of getting stuck in!
- Able to commit to at least one consistent shift across Saturdays and Sundays
- Works well as part of a small tight-knit team
- Dependable and capable of working to instructions with oversight/direction
- Experience working in a kitchen setting is a big plus!
