As the leader of the kitchen ancillary team, you will supervise staff and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring meals are prepared and served safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard. You will oversee the preparation of varied and nutritious menus that meet dietary requirements, cultural considerations and specialised meal plans for young people with specific dietary needs.
The role requires strong operational and administrative capability. You will manage food supplies and equipment, including ordering, receiving, storing, issuing and monitoring stock levels to ensure efficient use of resources and minimise waste.
Workplace safety and food hygiene are central to this role. You will be responsible for maintaining a protected and hygienic work environment for staff and young people by ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, workplace health and safety requirements, operational procedures and centre standards. Your leadership will contribute to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food handling and risk management while supporting the secure operation of the Youth Detention Centre.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader who is passionate about delivering food services and developing high-performing teams. Your capacity to lead by example, build positive working relationships and maintain high standards of service will help create an environment that supports the wellbeing of both young people and staff.

A Certificate IV in Kitchen Management is highly desirable and will be highly regarded, particularly when combined with experience in large-scale catering, institutional food services or hospitality management.
