About the role The Cemetery Team Member provides a range of field and machine operations including gravedigging, ground/horticultural maintenance, general labouring, customer service, and related support activities which contribute to the efficient, sensitive, and effective operation of Adelaide Cemeteries.

Key responsibilities

- Participate in the day-to-day work program for the efficient and effective operation of Adelaide Cemeteries

- Display proficiency in work activities undertaken and undertake training to attain necessary certification or qualification relating to the operation of machinery and equipment

- Hold, or work towards appropriate licenses to operate equipment including Excavator, Front End Loader, Trench Shoring, Forklift, Chainsaw, Road Traffic Management, Confined Space, and EWP – Elevated Work Platform

- Operate all equipment associated with the preparation and clearing of burial activities including Elevated Platform up to 11m, Lifting and Deepening, and Working in confined spaces

- Operate all equipment associated with the mausoleum and internments

- Perform a range of manual tasks including hand digging as required

- Participate in and assist co-workers with training related to operational practices, quality standards, WHS policies, and cemetery layout

- Assist the Team Leader and contribute to the development of new cemetery gardens/burial sites and refurbishment projects





- Complete minor repairs and maintenance work as required

- Assist and provide operational support to the Horticulture Team including grounds maintenance, planting, pruning, irrigation support, weed control, and general garden presentation activities

About you

- Ability to communicate effectively and interact with co-workers, managers, and the public

- Ability to work within a team environment and adapt to changing priorities

- Willingness to be trained in the use of machinery and equipment used in cemeteries

- Willingness to use the equipment you have been trained in

- Capability to undertake physical work in an outside working environment

- Willingness to relief and/or assist in other operational positions across sites

- Understanding of protected working practices

- Experience in building, landscaping and/or maintaining park and garden areas

- Current Class C driver's license

- National Police Check is mandatory
